Short Hikes in Spearfish Canyon

Is there any short hikes in Spearfish Canyon? I heard about the one to Roughlock Falls. But I would like to know about how long the trails are and about how long they take.

Short Hikes in Spearfish Canyon

We were just there 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed the area. Roughlock Falls starts at the end of the parking lot at Spearfish Canyon Lodge. I think it was 1 1/4 mile. It was a beautiful hike. You can also drive past the lodge a little ways and there is another access to the trail that will take you to the waterfall. There is also another short hike behind the restaurant at the Spearfish Lodge called Little Spearfish Falls. It was a little more rugged but also fairly short. I think we did the whole loop in 1/2 hour. It takes you to a waterfall then up around some old train tracks/bridge and back up to the Lodge area.

I think it took over an hour roundtrip from the parking lot. There was a area where you could take pictures of the falls, then we walked about another 5-10 minutes to go all the way above and around the falls. We took our time taking pictures, etc.

Thank you for the info. I am looking for short hikes of 20 minutes or less. We don%26#39;t have much time so I am trying to find out what is available in Spearfish Canyon. The falls sound nice.

You could drive up the raod and start the hike up there instead of the parking lot and you could see the falls in your time frame.
