We will be in Keystone the last week of May. Anyone have recommendations for places to eat? We are staying at the K Bar S Lodge. Thanks
Places to eat
The food scene is somewhat lacking in Keystone itself.
The pizza place at the Roosevelt Inn on the main strip is pretty good.
For steak ... Ate at the powder house. The prime rib was pretty good, but was disappointed in my filet, just wasn%26#39;t a very good cut of meat. But then I have read rave reviews about it, so maybe I am just really picky about my meat (or just ran into a bad one).
If you happen to end up in the Spearfish area, perhaps on a daytrip or something I *highly* recommend the Bay Leaf cafe. Most memorable meal I have had in the black hills area (buffalo tenderloin, yummmm!)

I second the recommendation for Big Time Pizza at Roosevelt Inn. Excellent pizza..unique flavors, including a cheesburger pizza. Very Good! We usually ate outside of Keystone, despite the fact we stayed there. Nothing looked really appetizing to us.
Enjoy your trip, CeCe. I know you have put a lot of time in your planning. I%26#39;m sure you will have a wonderful time.
I just returned from a trip to the Black Hills and had several great meals. We had great German food at the Alpine Inn in Hill City. The German food is only available at lunch. I had Wiener Schnuitzel and my friend had the bratwurst. Loved it, especially when we chased it with Bread Pudding with Warm Carmel Sauce. WE ate at the Game Lodge one evening. I had the Beef Medallions and my friend had the Smoked Pheasant Pasta. Both were excellent. Another evening we had pie and ice cream at the Purple Pie Store in Custer. That is a traditional stop for us since I love pie. We had a three day hiking trip, but I think I probably should have hiked a little more after all that eating. My one disappointment was that we didn%26#39;t have time to eat at the Sage Creek Grill in Custer, since that is one of my favorite restaurants.
Definitely try the Alpine Inn in Hill City.
Filet mignon 6 %26amp; 9 oz
good and priced very reasonable.
Deserts are the best ever..and the biggest for only $4.25(homemade too)
If you go, get there early ,at least 30 minutes before they open, placed will be packed. (closed on Sun)
Another vote for Powder House. Neat locale within a log cabin, with a variety of choices so both children and adults can find something. My wife liked her buffalo steak and the spaghetti and meatballs I had was more than passable (w/nice presentation). A mix of families and adult couples were eating there.
