Mt. Rushmore: worth visiting?

Is Mount Rushmore just the faces in the mountain? Or are there other things worth seeing/doing there?

Mt. Rushmore: worth visiting?

It%26#39;s so much more than that. The history of the creation of the monument is really fascinating, and it is truly breathtaking. The Visitor%26#39;s Center highlights the Gutzon Borglum story. Borglum is the sculptor behind the monument. He was also invovled with the carvings on Stone Mountain, GA.

If you visit, be sure to take the Presidential Trail around the mountain.

There%26#39;s a lot of wonderful attractions in the Black Hills region. I would suggest ordering a SD Travel Guide by visting travelsd.com.

If you have any specific questions about the attractions, please let us know.

Mt. Rushmore: worth visiting?

I agree! We were at Mt. Rushmore last week. The scenery surrounding the area is breathtaking. You will not need to stay more than an hour or so at Mt. Rushmore. Definately drive through Custer State Park. We saw 100%26#39;s of buffalo %26amp; other wildlife. The rangers are very helpful on where to find the herds. If you have time you might want to see Crazy Horse or tour a cave. I hope you have a great trip!

I visited the Black Hills for the first time in May.

I was not as moved as many others seem to be by Mt. Rushmore, but I could not imagine visitng the area without stopping there.

I really enjoyed the Norbeck Scenic Highway drive thru Custer State Park, just south of Mt. Rushmore.

There are many places to hike from the highway and I think it is well worth taking the time for the drive.
