Deadwood to Custer Battlefield to cody

We are doing this in one day. What kind of time am I looking at?

Deadwood to Custer Battlefield to cody

Probably 7+ hours of driving, plus time visiting places. You may want to consider staying in Sheridan WY, then going to Cody the next day.

Very doable, and why not make a short visit to Devils Tower on way.

As for time, that is up to you.

(Custer Battlefield visit) ??????

If you leave Deadwood early (7AM) no problem.

Is Devil%26#39;s Tower all that great? After Yellowstone and Jackson Hole and Moab, we are doing Monument Valley. Won%26#39;t that be better?

It is a little bit different than Monument Valley. Especially since you can get right up into it. Monument Valley is more a drive-through since hiking is pretty restricted (Unless you hire a Navajo guide for $50+ per hour). I think the coolest thing is watching the climbers (bring binoculars). And of course iconic in the ';close encounters of the third kind'; movie sense.

Although June is a voluntary no-climbing month, so depends on when you are going. Last time we were there was in June, but there were still two climbers apparently ignoring the voluntary no-climb thingy.

Devils Tower too close to pass up on way to Yellowstone.

Too bad not more time, we are doing a similar trip in Sep. When we leave Yellowstone/Grand Tetons after driving and spending a night in Logan Utah we are headed down to Zion then onto Bryce and then Moab via very scenic US12 and Capitol Reef.If able to add time these are some of the finer jewels in Utah.

Was out West quite a few times and always, never enough time.TOO much to see.........

Monument Valley awesome...

Thats exactly what we did that CasaAzul suggested. We stayed in actually Lead, SD and visited Devils Tower which was pretty cool!!! Then straight to Sheridan, WY and stayed over night. They have a fantastic steak place in town, forgot the name and then the next day onto Cody!!

We are going again this July!!! Can%26#39;t wait.
