Thanks for all your help, all! Another question, if you would-is it plausible to drive to Rapid City from Denver in one day? I do have a one night stop planned in Lusk, but if I could do the journey in one it would maximise our sightseeing time.
Re; driving from Denver
It app. is a 7 hours drive and not that much in between so bite the bullet..
Re; driving from Denver
If you don%26#39;t mind being behind the wheel for 6 hours (we don%26#39;t) then it%26#39;s easily doable. We actually just got back - went last Friday. Left our home (75 minutes south of Denver) at 7pm on Friday night so we decided to stop half way in Wheatland for the night, then continue the next day. Coming home we drove straight through with no problem.
You can do it, we%26#39;ve driven Rapid City to Colorado Springs (an hour south of Denver) many times. There isn%26#39;t much to see in Lusk.
We flew into Denver from Boston last fall. Rented a car in Denver and drove to Rapid City in about 7 hours. Lonnnggggg roads and lots of ranches and grasslands. We stopped in Cheyenne, Wyoming for lunch (at Sonic) and to get breakfast and lunch items at a Super WalMart there. Of course, we have driven from Boston area to North Carolina straight through for many years so a 7 hour drive is nothing. It gets very scenic once you enter into South Dakota and the Hills. Enjoy.
