Camping in Badlands

Hi! We%26#39;d like to tent camp in the Badlands with a great view of the ';hills';. Can anyone tell me the best campsite with a view? We%26#39;ll also be hiking and biking around.

Camping in Badlands

There are two campgrounds within the park. One is near the visitor center/Cedar Pass and one is toward the west end of the park. I%26#39;d recommend the Cedar Pass camp ground as you will have more hiking options. Biking in national parks is restricted to roads so you won%26#39;t really have great biking to do unless you%26#39;re going to road bike.

Most people don%26#39;t spend a lot of time camping in the Badlands. It%26#39;s fine for an overnight stop or for several nights if you%26#39;re seriously going to explore the park for several days and need an affordable place to sleep. But when looking for what most woudl consider fun camping experience, most people move on to the Black Hills after a night or at most two nights in the Badlands. You won%26#39;t find much for trees in the Badlands campgrounds--which makes it tough for weathering summer thunderstorms. Summer weather can be extreme--hot, windy and dusty.
