Places to Eat in Silver City

We%26#39;re going to do a little hiking along Rapid creek west of Silver City. After that we will need some lunch. Are there any places to eat in Silver City?

If not, we%26#39;ll stop in Lead on the way to Spearfish Canyon. What%26#39;s good in Lead? Nothing fancy, just someplace for sandwiches and salads and maybe a beer.

There%26#39;s not really a place in Silver City to eat lunch. Well, the store is occasionally open and may have some food once in a while but it%26#39;s not really a restaurant. A great locals place for a burger and a beer is The Sugar Shack on 385. It%26#39;s probably about half way between Deadwood the road that comes from Silver City.

The hiking is great where you plan on going--it%26#39;s a beautiful area in the bottom of Rapid Canyon.

Accommodator, Half way between Silver City and Deadwood or half way between Lead and Deadwood?

I took your advice and ordered the Trails Illustrated map of the southern Black Hills yesterday.

The Sugar Shack is about half way between Silver City and Deadwood. It%26#39;s a roadhouse looking joint on the west side of US 385. Try the Sugar Burger.

Keep in mind the Black Hills Southeast Trails Illustrated map won%26#39;t have the Silver City area on it. It%26#39;s more for Custer State Park, the Harney Range and Wind Cave Park. If you want a map for Trail 40 at Silver City you could get the Black Hills Northeast Trails Illustrated map...but you might just stop at National Forest ranger station and pick up a free trail brochure. There%26#39;s a ranger station on the south side of Rapid City, in Custer and in Spearfish.

Ok, We%26#39;ll look for it. My DH is always up for a hamburger.

I downloaded some trail descriptions from the USFS website but, we may stop by the Custer office when we go to town to do laundry and get groceries. We plan on doing the Rimrock and Little Speafish loops too.

The Forest Service offices have better trail info than you can get online so a stop would be best. I don%26#39;t understand why the BHNF doesn%26#39;t scan the trail brochures and put them on their website.

What%26#39;s posted for the Rimrock and Little Spearfish loops looks like a scanned tri-fold brochure.
