Wife and I have recently changed directions and want to head to S.D. w/ the kids age 9 and 13 the week of July 21. As expected I%26#39;m having a hard time finding a lodge/cabin for a entire week. Could be expecting to much.......
We%26#39;re looking and the Hill City/Black Hills area. Not really interested in moving from location to location.
Any help here would be great

In Hill City you could try Crooked Creek RV Park; they also have cabins and a motel (www.crookedcreeksd.com.) There%26#39;s Horse Thief (I know folks who stay there each summer and really like it; it%26#39;s quite lovely but I don%26#39;t think I%26#39;d personally want to stay there for a whole week (www.horsethief.com) We are going to stay at Lake Park Campground and Cottages this summer. It is at the southern end of Rapid City and convenient to sites/attractions in all directions. It is on a small lake with paddle boats,a nice walking path, golf nearby, showers,a store,1 and 2 bedroom cottages and a 4 bedroom vacation home, playground, cable, free wireless (lakeparkcampground.com)- Scott or Sherry.
Good luck and enjoy.

Also try this Hill City link for cabins:
hillcitysd.com/hillcitylodging-cabins.html
You can also consider staying in either Keystone or Custer. You can probably get some ideas under hotels for each town on this site. A lot of people seem to like the K Bar S Lodge in Keystone. We liked the Roosevelt Inn, but that%26#39;s a more ';hotel/motel'; atmosphere rather than a cabin/lodge.
Good luck.
Try www.blackhillsvacationhomes.com They have many homes in the Hill City area. Great people.
You might also want to check into the Palmer Gulch/Mt Rushmore KOA. www.palmergulch.com They have cabins and a lodge. Many great activities for the kids. Splash Park, mini golf, water slide, bike rentals, trail rides, chuckwagon dinner ride. Short trip to Mt Rushmore, Horse Theif Lake(fishing, cliff jumping) Hill City(Alpine Inn(restaurant), Keystone(old time photos), Crazy Horse(evening laser light show).
I would also recommend Lake Park Campground and Cottages. I have stayed there many times and have always found the atmosphere to be very cozy and it has a home away from home feel. It is a family run business and you can tell the owners -- Scott and Sherry -- love what they do and want to make the guests love their home in the Black Hills. I will continue staying here every time I visit Rapid City. The cottages, either one or two bedrooms, are each decorated uniquely (I stayed in the Christmas cottage during my last stay) and are fully furnished with dishes, pots and pans, linens, etc. The lake is a beautiful lake that is a short walking distance away and there is a walking/bike path that goes around it. The cottages are in a quiet area, although it is residential, it is located just on the edge of the city limits so the hills are easily accessible. You will enjoy your stay regardless of where you stay as the Black HIlls are an excellent family vacation spot but I would highly recommend Lake Park Campground as your lodging of choice!
