Denver to Keystone

We are driving from Denver to Keystone Sept 7. What route would be good? Want to see some sites but still keep the drive reasonable no more than 8 hrs.

Denver to Keystone

With a couple of normal stops (gas or a fast food lunch), plan on 7 hours between Denver and Keystone. So if you want to make it in 8 hours, you don%26#39;t have a lot of time for stops.

The Fort Laramie National Historic Site is something you can fit in.

There is no exact route from Denver to the Black Hills. The two common routes are a Wyoming route and a Nebraska route.

You%26#39;d take the Wyoming route if you%26#39;re going to stop at Fort Laramie--and even if you don%26#39;t stop at Fort Laramie, it%26#39;s probably the best route. I-25 north out of Denver, US26 to Fort Laramie, US85 to Lusk, US18 past Edgemont, SD89 to Custer, US385 to SD244 and SD 244 to Keystone.

Afternoon traffic on I-25 north of Denver gets pretty heavy so that%26#39;s when you%26#39;d want to take the Nebraska route. I-76 to Sterling. CO113/NE19 to Sidney, and US385 to the Black Hills.
