Sunday morning we headed to the Mammoth Site in Hot Springs. On the way we saw bison (a bunch)and pronghorns. We took the tour and had a great guide. It was very interesting and I learned alot. All three children did the Jr. Paleontologist dig and really enjoyed it. The children must have reservations to do this. After the dig we headed to State Game lodge for lunch. I got the recommendations from someone on these boards and it was a good one. We all had the buffet and it was good. My son particularly enjoyed the Bison Stew.
We checked out the artists in residence and headed on to the visitor center. We were a little late to pan for gold but the ranger sent us across the road to join in. The kids had alot of fun taking dirt the creek and hoping for treasure. Some found tiny garnets but according the ranger no gold has been found yet. We drove Needles Highway to Sylvan lake. The drive was great and so was the lake. The children swam and my husband and I climbed a few rocks and walked around the lake. It is beautiful. There was a wedding that afternoon right at the edge of the lake. This was one of my favorites of the trip.
The next morning we went to Wind Cave and took the tour and saw the boxwork before heading to Cheyenne for Frontier days. I%26#39;ll continue my report on the Wyoming board.
