Keystone in October-quiet?

Will Keystone be very quiet/shutdown at the end of october? Not sure where to stay for the best sightseeing holiday.

Keystone in October-quiet?

I drove through Keystone the last weekend in Oct last year. Most of the businesses were closed, I don%26#39;t know if the hotels were open.

There would be more activity in Hill City or Custer.

Keystone gets pretty quiet in late October. Lately even the gas station closes a little later than that in the dead of winter. There will be some hotels and restaurants that will be open for shoulder season travelers.

Like Lohrs said, Hill City and Custer are somewhat better options, although they%26#39;re pretty quiet by then, too.

It will get dark by 6 p.m. or so. Spend one of the nights dining at the Alpine Inn (Hill City) and another at Sage Creek Grill (Custer) and it isn%26#39;t so bad staying in a sleepy town.

If you%26#39;re looking for more evening excitement than just a dinner, Deadwood is a good place for off-season lodging although you%26#39;re getting a little far from the Mount Rushmore area. I also often recommend considering Rapid City for off-season lodging.

In South Dakota; the best resort? Any 4 or 5 star resorts in SD? please respond to bennettrben@msn.com. THANKS
