We%26#39;re in Hill city right now for 5 nights. We%26#39;ll ptobably try Alphine Inn sometime but need some other suggestions. I%26#39;ve searched on Keystone as well but dining suggestions seem sparse. We really liked The Social Club in Deadwood, Deadwood Thymes Bistro, and The Bay Leaf in Spearfish. The problem with Alphine Inn is they don%26#39;t take reservations and i don%26#39;t want to line up for an hour to eat.
Any other places to eat other than Alpine Inn?
Try the Sage Creek Grill in Custer. WE have had some very good meals there. We also enjoyed the Blue Bell Lodge and the Game Lodge in Custer State Park.

I second the Sage Creek Grill in Custer. For lunch or breakfast try the place nearby--Bakers Bakery.
The Sylvan Lake Lodge is good and not far from Hill City.
In Hill City try the Bumpin%26#39; Buffalo a half block south of the Alpine.
Also:
The Powder House on the north side of Keystone.
The Gaslight in Rockerville.
If you make it to Rapid City and can make a reservation, try the Corn Exchange. It%26#39;s the best place in the area. http://www.cornexchange.com/. Also in Rapid City check out Botticelli (Italian) or Delmonico (steak and seafood). All three are downtown. A good home-style type place on the south side of Rapid City is the Colonial House.
A nice place about half way between Highway 385 and Rapid City on Highway 44 is the Fireside Inn.
Thanks! We ended up wandering into Desperadoes yesterday and had a pretty good meal - though service is spotty there. One other thing we noticed is alot of the restaurants in Hill City do not accept credit cards. We did go to Bumpin%26#39; Buffalo first and their credit card machine was down so we kept walking and Desperadoes was cash only but we didn%26#39;t feel like walking back (also prices were a bit lower at Desperadoes).
We actually did try for Alpine Inn but, of course, the wait was already 45 minutes and we wanted to catch the evening illumination at Rushmore.
We have a jeep tour this morning so will probably head to the lodges for a meal.
