2 Days in SD

We are flying into Denver; spending the night in Torrington and getting an early start the next day into Keystone. We will be there for the balance of that day and 1 full day. We then plan to drive half way to Yellowstone. Any suggestions on what to do and the best routes to take?

2 Days in SD

Once you get to the Black Hills, visit Mt Rushmore both during the day and at night for the evening ceremony. Drive around parts of Custer State Park and take a cave tour of either Jewel or Wind Caves, both part of the National Park Service.

From the Black Hills you can easily get to Buffalo or Sheridan WY, and with a longer drive get to Cody WY, which has wonderful museums.

2 Days in SD

Thanks - We are definitely planning on Mt. Rushmore. We have reservations at the K Bar S Lodge which seems relatively close to there. I understand that everything pretty much closes up after 9PM - so I guess we need to plan on an early dinner. Any recommendations?

I would stop at Devils Tower via Deadwood on the way to Yellowstone.I would make a visit to the Historic Mount Moriah cemetery and see where Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hikock lay buried side by side.

As for dining I would take a ride up to Hill City and eat at the Alpine Inn before going to the evening ceremony.Unbeatable pair... The Evening Ceremony at Mt Rushmore and dining at the fantastic Alpine Inn. We will be here doing this right after Labor Day...AWesome pair..
