Where to stay in Rapid City

We live in northeast Oklahoma and will be staying in Rapid City July 14-18. I currently have reservations at the Microtel and the Econo Lodge. Would you recommend either of these? We have a 9-year-old daughter and want to stay in a %26#39;safe%26#39;, decent location.

Also, does anyone know a website that will allow me to print discount coupons for Rapid City?

Thank you!

I am not familiar with the hotels you have mentioned here, but I did answer your other post on Rapid City.

As far as discounts, go to blackhillstv.com This will allow you to purchase a card that will provide substantial discounts to major attractions in the Black Hills. The card is around $15 and will pay for itself very quickly.

Your daughter will love the area. My daughter was 8 when she went and still talks about the trip.

Both the Microtel and the Econolodge are in a ';safe'; enough location but it%26#39;s kind of a boring area. They%26#39;re I-90 hotels that are fine for a night or so. Nearby is the mall, Wal-mart, chain restaurants, etc.

Thank you so much, Slrtravelplanner and Accommodator for replying!I will check out the blackhillstv site and keep searching for other hotels. My husband and I traveled to the Rapid City area in July 1997; I only recall Wall Drug, Bear Country, and Mt. Rushmore. I am getting excited about this trip!

We stayed at America%26#39;s Best Value Inn, I-90 and Howard Street, it was $60 a night with the coupon we printed out from the South Dakota Tourist Magazine. We thought it was great, very clean, nice breakfast (make your own waffles, cereal, toast, juice donuts, etc.) The staff could not have been nicer. It has an outdoor pool and indoor hot tub. We were really leery because it was so reasonable, but found it a perfect base for taking day trips.
