labor day in Deadwood

Hi we are flying in to Denver on September 1, from Ireland. Staying at the airport hotel and travelling to Deadwood the next day.

I have just discovered that we will be travelling on Labor Day. Will the traffic be extremely heavy, we will be leaving Denver airport very early approx 6 a.m.

The website cityofdeadwood.com also says that Deadwood will be closed that day, does that mean no restaurants bars etc., will be open.

any help will be apreciated

I went to the site you list, it means that the city/state/federal offices are closed. It is a federal holiday.

On other sites it appears the shootout %26amp; the trial will be held. The restaurants %26amp; bars will be open. And, Mt. Moriah cemetery never closes.

If you leave Denver at 6 am on a holiday, I don%26#39;t think you will find heavy traffic Denver through Wyoming. There may be some more traffic once you get into the Black Hills, but it probably won%26#39;t qualify as heavy.

While Labor Day weekend is the last ';big'; one of the summer, you won%26#39;t find it too crowded. As long as you have your room reservations made, you%26#39;ll be fine.

Thanks for you prompt response, it avoided the ';you should have known it was labor day conversation';
