getting to South Dakota

We are interested in visiting Mt Rushmore %26amp; vicinity for several days in June. We are traveling with one or two kids, leaving from Hartford CT, and will stay in Keystone. Does anyone have any advice on getting to the area? The flights to Rapid City take all day, with multiple changes, and are quite expensive. Would it make sense to fly to Denver or Billings, and then drive? Thanks for your suggestions!

Hi Laurie! With gas prices soaring and flights getting more and more expensive, it would be cheaper to fly into Denver. I have done it many times myself. I grew up in Keystone. We%26#39;ve flown out of Denver a few times because of the price, but, then you also have the 7 hour drive back, losing most of your first and last day of vacation. But, if the ticket price makes it worth it, it can be done.
