Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour & Chuckwagon Cookout Adventure

Is anyone familiar with this? It is in Custer State Park.

Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour %26amp; Chuckwagon Cookout Adventure

Hi pattycake57:

I am familiar with these activities...we did the Chuckwagon Cookout at the BlueBell Lodge last summer. You take a Chuckwagon ride through the park to see some wildlife, drive to a location and have a chuckwagon cookout. It is sort of an entertainment type of activity, as you have singing ';cowboys'; that lead the tour, and at the Chuckwagon cookout you have some silly dancing, etc. Everyone gets a cowboy hat and bandana to wear as well. It is fun, the food is adequate, and if you have kids it will get them into the ';western'; mood. If you don%26#39;t have kids (and there were several on the tour that don%26#39;t), it just depends on whether you like this sort of thing.

We did not take the Buffalo Safari Jeep tour, as we opted for the Chuckwagon dinner instead (I think there are different Jeep choices...some with the Chuckwagon dinner, some without?). We did follow a Jeep one morning while driving the Wildlife loop, they seemed to know the best places to go! I think most of the things you see on the Jeep/Chuckwagon tour can be seen by driving on your own ... however ... it is really nice for the ';driver'; in your family to catch a break from driving, and just be able to enjoy the scenery.

I believe both of these tours are run through the Blue Bell Lodge at Custer State Park, and our experience with anything run through CSP was positive.

Hope this helps,

Kelly

thanks for the information, we are 6 adults traveling together, no kids and we are driving from Denver to Keystone to Cody to Yellowstone to Grand Tetons and back to Denver in 10 days, so it might be nice to give my husband, the driver, a few hours off.

Any idea if the jeep trips are appropriate for handicapped individuals? How much do they cost?

Hi:

I don%26#39;t have any idea if the jeep rides are appropriate for handicapped individuals, but I believe that if you called them, they would try to accomodate you. Most everyone we came in contact with at Custer State Park was very friendly.

If you are looking for more info, check out the website: www.custerresorts.com , click on ';Activities'; and you can look at the brochure. If something appeals to you, call the number listed. Again, we found everyone to be quite helpful.

The jeep rides on their own were $35 for adults and $25 for children...the ones that included a cook-out are $75 for adults and $55 for children (double-check this info on the website).

Hope this helps,

Kelly
