July 3rd Fireworks Mount Rushmore

Staying at the Four Presidents BestWestern Lodge on July 3rd. Planning on going to the fireworks. Weather looks spotty.

Question:

1. Are there any shuttles to Mount Rushmore for the fireworks?

2. We have a handicap sticker. Would it be wrong to try to come later in the day and use the sticker to get a parking spot? I dont want to make my mother sit in the run all day.

Really looking forward to this trip. My mom is a freak about fireworks and we thought this would be one of the best in the country.

I assume you have a handicap sticker because someone in your family qualifies. Why would that be wrong to use it? Unless of course the person who requires this sticker, is not with you.

My mom is the one with the placard. It%26#39;s supposed to rain and I%26#39;m nervous about hanging out from 10 am to 9 pm in rainy weather. I was thinking we could maybe show up in the afternoon and might be able to get a parking spot with the handicap placard. Its a gamble and I dont think my mom could walk a mile to the monument.

In a perfect world ';in my head'; we could hang out at the hotel and take a shuttle to the monument around 4 pm. I havn%26#39;t found any shuttles though.

My family was thinking about going to Mt. Rushmore on the 3rd. I called the NPS and they said they weren%26#39;t aware of any shuttles, so they referred me to the Keystone Chamber of Commerce. The Keystone wasn%26#39;t sure of any shuttles, but they referred me to thie one company, I can%26#39;t remeber the name of it.

You should call Mount Rushmore and see what they say about handicap access during the fireworks. (605) 574-2523.

Also...as far as rain...it%26#39;s a week away so it%26#39;s hard to tell but the forecast is for sun.

It is hard to predict the weather that far in advance. When I looked at the forecast on www.wunderground.com , it says partly cloudy with a 20% chance of thunderstorms. If it does rain, then it will be short, quick afternoon rains.

According to the Mt Rushmore website, you can load and unload mobility impaired visitors in front of the main entrance. So... if need be, you can drop mom off, then go park.
