I am planning an RV trip to Yellowstone NP in Sept. and would like to include Mt. Rushmore and area in this trip. I have never been there. Where to camp? What to see?
RV camping in the Black Hills areaThere are a lot of great places to stay. I would suggest you get a copy of the South Dakota Official 2007 or 2008 Campground Guide (guide@campsd.org or www.campsd.org) It%26#39;s a nice guide with descriptions of some activities and a couple of coupons.
We will be staying this summer at a place called Lake Park Campground in southern Rapid City. It%26#39;s pretty convenient to many sights ...(www.lakeparkcampground.com)
Have a great time.
RV camping in the Black Hills areaAround the town of Custer are quite a few RV parks and also Custer State Park which has a number of nice campgrounds, some with hookups.

Will I need to make reservations since I am traveling after Labor Day? Less people traveling due to high fuel prices?
You%26#39;ll be able to find a place to camp after Labor Day without a reservation. If you want that one particular spot in one particular campground, make a reservation--otherwise, you%26#39;ll be fine.
