My family and I are going to be staying in Piedmont, SD July 2 - July 6 for 4 nights. There are 9 adults and 7 kids ranging from 16 - 5. One of the adults is pregnant and can%26#39;t do a lot streneous physical activity.
We were planning on doing Wall Drug, the Corn Palace, the Bad Lands, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, one of the caves and a day trip to Devil%26#39;s tower.
Any suggestions for places to go with such a large group? We will have 3 different vehicles. Also any suggestions for restaurants that would be affordable and accomodating for a group our size would be helpful too.
Also, we will be out there during the 4th of July so any celebration recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Group Trip Advice for Rapid City area
If you want to relax, see some sites, and probably find things for all ages, go into Rapid City and take the trolley around town. It goes to the Stavkirk, hatchery, dinosaur park, and several other places and you can get on and off as you like and spend time at the sites that interest you. I don%26#39;t remember what the name of the web site is, but I%26#39;m sure someone else on here knows. There is a little cafe in Piedmont (don%26#39;t remember the name) that is good and pretty inexpensive. There is a steakhouse there; it%26#39;s good but pricey. The Colonial House in Rapid City is a medium price range, spacious restaurant that we have always had good luck with. You might also try the Flying T Chuckwagon Supper and Show in Rapid City; reasonable and entertainment in one. If you like Mexican Food, try Guadalajara in Spearfish (you can look for a coupon in the Traveler Magazine or the SD Official 2007 Campground Guide that you can get at most reststops). The restaurant is almost next door to the KOA Campground in Spearfish.
